The International 8K Ultra-HD Visual Technology Research and Application Seminar was held in Beijing E-Town on May 30, 2023. 

NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) from Japan visited the Key Laboratory for Research and Application of Ultra-HD Television Technology, located in the China (Beijing) High-Tech Audio-Visual Industry Park, to conduct specialized technical exchanges.

During the event, Tetsuya Fukuhara, director of the Innovation Strategy Department of NHK Program Production Company, presented an application for utilizing Japanese 8K Ultra-HD technology in event broadcasting, museum exhibitions, and the 8K VR field.

Following that, the former director of NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories (NHKSTRL), introduced the application of Japanese 8K Ultra-HD technology in the medical field. 

Over 20 representatives from medical and Ultra-HD-related companies participated in discussions and exchanges with NHK experts regarding research on 8K Ultra-HD technology, product development, and market applications.

"NHK is an important driving force for the development of Ultra-HD technology in Japan. The application of 8K Ultra-HD technology in the medical field discussed during this exchange will contribute to the integration of 8K Ultra-HD technology and medical technology." According to Liu Chenming, head of the laboratory,  

A representative from a nearby medical enterprise who attended the event mentioned, "I came to understand how NHK applies 8K in surgeries, and in turn, broaden my horizons and inspire my thinking."

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Beijing E-Town will establish a hundred-billion-level digital-type science, technology, and culture integration industrial cluster led by the "high-definition audiovisual and gaming e-sports" industries and encompasses digital creativity and cultural equipment production. 

Since the establishment of the Key Laboratory for Research and Application of Ultra-HD Television Technology, it has achieved remarkable scientific and technological achievements in such areas as Ultra-HD, cloud broadcasting, and artificial intelligence, and attracted a group of outstanding domestic and foreign companies and institutions to settle in the area.
